Which structure coordinates balance, posture, and muscle tone?

Frontal Lobe

Cerebellum

The cerebellum is responsible for coordinating balance, posture, and muscle tone. It doesn’t initiate movement but fine-tunes it by integrating sensory information from the inner ear (vestibular system), muscles, and joints with motor commands. This helps keep us upright, maintain steady posture, and ensure movements are smooth by adjusting muscle tone as needed.

Other regions have different roles: the frontal lobe mainly handles planning, decision-making, and voluntary movement control; the occipital lobe processes visual information; and the temporal lobe deals with memory and hearing. While those areas contribute to movement in broader ways, the cerebellum is the key structure that coordinates balance, posture, and tone.
